4/29/2015 Massachusetts Lt. Governor Polito Helps Westborough Economic Development Committee and Cidewalk Kick Off First of Many Free Small Business Workshops Across the StateRead Now Monday night, dozens of Westborough business owners, full of hummus, pizza, and fresh-baked brownies, had their chance to get up close and personal with Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito. Polito, in partnership with the Westborough Economic Development Committee and Cidewalk, helped kick off a local Small Business Marketing workshop – the very first in a series of free workshops across the state designed to help Massachusetts small businesses grow and thrive. Called “Building Strong Communities,” the program is part of the executive order signed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker to create the Community Compact Cabinet, aimed at creating stronger ties between business owners and the administration. The night capped off with a special address from the Lieutenant Governor, touching on the workshop and calling for other similar public-private partnerships. Business owners shared their thoughts, suggestions, and questions with Polito as she expanded on her plans for helping more businesses recruit and retain talent in Massachusetts. We had a fantastic time hosting the very first small business marketing workshop in our own backyard! Thanks to all of the local business owners who attended, donated delicious edibles, and shared their experiences with us. And special thanks to Lieutenant Governor Polito for showing up in support of our efforts! To stay informed of future workshops, all free and open to the public, sign up here. The night began with plenty of networking, and food provided from some of our favorite Westborough eateries: El Basha, Mayuri, and Yummy Mummy. The program then dove straight into a panel discussion, featuring local business owners discussing and sharing their biggest challenges when it came to marketing successfully.
After the panel, business owners were treated to a presentation on how to use key local digital marketing tactics, at free or for low cost, to quickly spread word about their business. Marketing experts from Cidewalk and internet marketing company Wakefly also gave great advice on what to do in specific scenarios that businesses right in our own back yard were facing. |
